Dr Aime Muyoboke

Dr Aimé Muyoboke KARIMUNDA is the Rector of the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) since October 2023. Before that he was a Justice of Supreme Court of Rwanda and Vice President of the Rwanda Advisory Committee on Mediation. He is seating on the disciplinary committee of the High Council of the Prosecution, member of the Rwanda Advisory Board on Plea Bargaining, member of the Global Judicial Network Integrity, member of the Advisory Board of the Rwanda Law Journal and member of Judicial Education Committee. He is also guest Senior Lecturer at the University of Rwanda. He is a certified mediator and he holds a PhD in International Criminal & Human Rights Law. Until April 2021, he was the President of the Court of Appeal of Rwanda and Vice President of the Rwanda High Judicial Council. He has also been the Secretary of Publicity of the East African Judges and Magistrates Association, Advisor to the Deputy Chief Justice, member of the Government Expert Committee on the United Nations’ Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), Dean of the School of Law (Kigali Independent University) and Advisor to the Minister of Health. He has published in the field of domestic and international criminal law and human rights law.
